The other day, our family was driving around and we passed a Red Lobster restaurant that was closed.
My son said, “Lobsterfest is canceled! ”

Well, churches aren't holding Sunday services now, so the Red Lobster and Cracker Barrel near me would be pretty down on business anyway, if they could open.

Here in Texas, the governor announced all sorts of closures to combat Covid, but churches aren’t part of his order because Religious Freedom™. Most churches are closing anyway.
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

I’m pretty sure Bob and Gene are happy about this news. I guess we’ll just have to enjoy Lobster Fest in the animated realm only...

Most of the ones around here switched to online streaming a week or so before the governor banned all gatherings over 10 people outside grocery stores, gas stations, drug stores, restaurant kitchens, and other essential workplaces.

Leave them open and let Darwin sort them out.

The government in Ohio had announced churches wouldn’t be closed but were encouraged to switch to streaming services and told in person services had to include fewer than 10 people.
A church near me blatantly ignored him and was called out by name at his next press conference. It’s a church that was originally built to help hide illegal money so there’s no surprise they didn’t feel like following government requirements.

The Bishop canceled in-person Mass two weeks ago. We’ve been attending online masses at different places. I really loved the one at the cathedral in Glasgow. This week, I think we’ll be doing the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame.

My Easter gig was canceled, but the church as said they will pay us anyway. They are trying to do what they can, while they can. The quartet has agreed to play gratis for the celebration communion that the church is planning when this blows over.

I remember being hired for an Easter service gig by a local church when I was in high school. I remember being seated by an over enthusiastic lady who probably played in high school and didn’t have much in the way of tone quality, but she didn’t lack for air stream.
They payed me with a breakfast at Denny’s after.

I have played many a gig in exchange for a good meal. I have always told my students to play in church (though most of my current students don’t attend). No matter how you play in church, the parishioners will say you were wonderful.
That said , I played a gig at a church in Horseshoe Bay a few years ago. This was one of those churches where the men come dressed in their golf clothes so they can hit the course after the service. The service was also broadcast live on the radio, and I had to stand in a spot very near the congregation, and it was a bit unsettling. As a result, I biffed something at some point. After the service, a man came up to me and said, “I guess missing a high note is kind of like missing a short putt.”

Like H e does with people who listen to the POTUS and each aquarium cleaner?
The problem I have with your posit is that the Darwinians will require ventilators that non-zealots could be using to maybe survive.

If two people are in an elevator, and one of them farts, everybody knows who did it.

Recent wisdom I heard from my wife on social distancing. If you can smell the fart, you’re too close.

You
put way
more thought into what I wrote than I did. Aren’t Darwinians usually non-zealots?

I only meant to point out irony. So many broken brains out there these days... By Darwinian, I mean to label the folks who fall victim to the Darwin principle.

Did you catch the Italian priest who did an excellent job with the technical side of setting up a livestream for his mass. Only to make a last minute adjustment to his camera that turned on and set all the installed filters into rotation.
